Playstation 5 set for 2020 holiday release

Oct 09, 2019

Tokyo (Japan) Oct 09: Sony has announced its next-generation PlayStation 5 console will go on sale next year. It's the first model of the company's flagship gaming system to be released in about seven years, and will be on shelves in time for the year-end holidays.
Officials say the new console will feature a number of innovations, including a vibration function that allows players to experience a broader range of feedback and compatibility with ultra-high definition 8K displays. The price and official release date have not been announced.
Sony has long been one of the leaders in the gaming industry. Its current console, the PlayStation 4, has sold more than 100 million units worldwide.
But the rising popularity of smartphone games has made the field increasingly competitive.
And new rivals are emerging, as traditionally non-gaming companies enter the fray. US tech giant Google is expected to launch a game streaming service in November.
