Japan jobless rate falls to 2.6 pct in September

Tokyo [Japan],November 1: Japan's unemployment rate in September fell 0.1 percentage points from the previous month to 2.6 percent, marking the first improvement in three months, as the country's economy continued to recover from the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, government data showed Tuesday.
The total number of jobless people fell 4.3 percent from August to 1.77 million, while the number of people with jobs rose 0.1 percent to 67.6 million, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
People who were dismissed dropped 11.6 percent from the previous month, while those who left their jobs voluntarily declined 5.0 percent, the ministry added.
The labor ministry said the ratio of effective job openings to job seekers in September was unchanged from August at 1.29, indicating 129 job openings for every 100 job seekers, with both job seekers and openings decreasing slightly.
