Myanmar seizes firearms, ammunition in central region

Yangon (Myanmar), October 10: Myanmar authorities have seized a large amount of firearms and ammunition in Mandalay region, the Information Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
The seizure was made by security force members in Amarapura township on Oct. 5.
A total of 200 assault rifles, 20 machine guns, 32,640 rounds of ammunition and related materials were confiscated from a fuel tanker truck, the ministry said.
It added that a suspect was charged in connection with the case and further investigation is underway.
