Sep 11, 2024

Pyongyang [North Korea], September 11: The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on September 10 quoted leader Kim Jong-un as declaring that the DPRK will strengthen its nuclear capabilities to deter all threats.
Speaking at a meeting with senior officials of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government on the occasion of the country's national day (September 9), he said Pyongyang is steadily implementing a policy of increasing the number of nuclear weapons exponentially.
The North Korean leader said the US-led move to expand its military alliance in the region posed a serious security threat. He said North Korea's military power would grow "increasingly and continuously" and that there would be no limit to achieving its goals.
On the economic front, the leader expressed satisfaction with the results in the first half of the year and called for further efforts to achieve the targets this year. He called for "unconditional and perfect implementation" of the policy on developing projects to build modern factories in 20 regions over the next decade.
Regarding flood recovery, the leader said the country has outlined "preventive and irreversible" measures to prevent future natural disasters.
A South Korean military official said that the country's and the US intelligence agencies are closely monitoring North Korea's weapons development activities.
