UN chief slams Israel's bombardment of Gaza

Oct 25, 2023

New York [US], October 25: UN Secretary General AntonioGuterres has harshly criticized Israel for its relentless airstrikes on Gaza, which were launched in response to the killings of Israelis by Hamas more than two weeks ago.
In the aftermath of the October 7 attacks, Israel has been telling Palestinian civilians to evacuate to the south of the Gaza Strip, in what is seen as a precursor to a ground invasion of the enclave.
"Protecting civilians does not mean ordering more than 1 million people to evacuate to the south, where there is no shelter, no food, no water, no medicine and no fuel, and then continuing to bomb the south itself," Guterres said at a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on Tuesday.
