Belarus denies plans to raise troops, attack neighbouring countries

Feb 16, 2025

Moscow [Russia], February 16: Belarus denied plans to rearm and attack its neighbours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of a future threat from Moscow's ally at the Munich Security Conference.
"We do not pose a threat to anyone, we are not increasing the number of troops or weapons systems - unlike our neighbours, the Poles and the Baltics, who are focusing on militarization," said the politically influential Secretary of the National Security Council in Belarus, Alexander Wolfovich.
No exercises are planned near the border with the NATO states this year, Wolfovich said, in order to avoid provocation.
His comments came after Zelensky warned the Kremlin was planning to deploy troops to Belarus in an operation disguised as a joint military manoeuvre, citing intelligence sources. (DPA)
