Canada's second-largest airline to restore operations following over 1,000 flight cancellations

Vancouver [Canada], July 3: Canada's second-largest airline, the WestJet Group, said Tuesday the company began to ramp up its operations after the end of strike which led to over 1,000 flight cancellations.
The full resumption of operations will take time and further cancellations will be required over the coming days, said WestJet on its website.
There will be 27 flights to be cancelled on Tuesday, the airline said.
According to the company, as a result of the active labor disruption that began on Friday and concluded on Sunday, WestJet parked 130 of its 180 aircraft.
A total of 1,078 flight cancellations forced by the strike impacted more than 100,000 passengers.
The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, representing about 670 WestJet maintenance engineers, began the strike action on Friday afternoon.
