Paris [France], May 2: A trainee driver learning to operate a city bus in a Paris suburb plunged the vehicle into the Seine River on Thursday after making a steering error, authorities and French media reported.
After leaving a bus station in the city of Juvisy-sur-Orge, the driver rammed a parked car and plunged both vehicles into the river, where they sank.
The city thanked the rescue workers and first responders who pulled the four occupants from the water without any major injuries. The newspaper Le Parisien reported, citing eyewitnesses, that several members of a rowing club were out on the Seine when they saw the bus fall into the water and immediately rushed to help.
The trainee, a 25-year-old woman who was under the supervision of a driving instructor, was taken into police custody after the accident. (DPA)
