Abu Dhabi [UAE], October 1: Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Council and Chairman of the UAE Media Council, affirmed that the decision by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to designate 28th February as 'Emirati Day for Education' reflects the high value His Highness places on education and knowledge as a key foundation for societal development and a crucial tool for driving the UAE's sustainable development journey.
On this occasion, Sheikh Abdulla said that the Emirati Day for Education embodies the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to invest in human capital, which can propel the nation to leading positions in various global competitiveness indices.
"His Highness has placed education at the forefront of national priorities due to its central role in preparing young generations capable of leadership and addressing future challenges," he added.
Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed stated that this generous initiative underscores the profound appreciation of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for all members of the educational community, particularly teachers.
He further noted that designating 28th February as Emirati Day for Education, a date that witnessed the graduation of the first cohort of teachers from UAE University in 1982, led by the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his fellow UAE rulers, highlights His Highness's deep respect for the noble mission of teachers.
"Teachers are entrusted with shaping the future generations who will lead the nation's comprehensive development and fulfil the leadership's vision of excelling in various sectors," Sheikh Abdulla further said.
The Chairman of the National Media Council reiterated the UAE's commitment to fostering a modern, advanced education system, which serves as the driving force that leads the nation safely into the future and towards achieving the UAE Vision 2071.
He emphasised that education in the UAE is a wise investment in the future, a sustainable investment with its true return being the minds it nurtures, which are the real wealth that guarantees prosperity, happiness, and prominence among nations.
"Education is the future we plant today," he concluded.
