German chancellor sacks finance minister, calls confidence vote on January 15

Berlin [Germany], November 7: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Wednesday he had sacked his Finance Minister Christian Lindner, adding that he would call a confidence vote on January 15.
The German Chancellor explained that the decision was necessary to prevent harm to the country.
Newspaper Bild earlier reported that Lindner had recommended early elections as a solution to the budget impasse, a proposal Scholz had rejected.
