Jun 28, 2022

Jerusalem [Israel], June 28: Israel's Ministry of Environmental Protection on Monday announced a plan to promote research and surveys on reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and preventing marine pollution.
The plan includes government support for selected studies and surveys at a total of 4 million shekels (1.17 million U.S. dollars), according to the ministry.
The purpose of the studies and surveys is to build and expand the information base in the field of climate change in Israel in general, and of the treatment of pollutions and their prevention in particular, it added.
As part of the plan, the ministry called on researchers and institutions to submit study proposals on reducing air pollution in transportation, reducing emissions from animal husbandry and households, indoor air pollution, pollution in the Mediterranean and Red Sea, and more.
"The studies and surveys will be used to formulate the ministry's policy, determine preferred courses of action and create plans to reduce pollutants and adapt them to the conditions in Israel," said Noga Kronfeld-Schor, chief scientist at the ministry.
