Jordanian UN staffer released by Yemen's Houthis

Cairo [Egypt], September 12: A Jordanian employee of the United Nations has been released from detention in Yemen and is on her way home, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
Lana Kataw, a deputy director of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), was held in the Yemeni capital Sana'a for several days.
She was detained by the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels after she objected to an attack on the UNICEF office in Sana'a last month and refused to hand over her employees, local UN workers said.
Late last month, the militants raided the offices of two UN offices in Houthi-controlled Sana'a and abducted several staff members. At least 20 workers are reportedly still in Houthi detention.
The Houthis have previously abducted UN staff and other aid workers, accusing some of spying for the United States. Some of them have been imprisoned in the war-torn country for more than three years.
