Kerem Shalom crossing opened to allow aid into Gaza

Mar 04, 2026

Gaza City [Gaza], March 4: Israel has reopened a key border crossing into the Gaza Strip for the delivery of humanitarian aid after closing it when attacks on Iran began.
A spokesman for Israel's COGAT authority, which oversees civilian affairs in the Palestinian territories, on Tuesday confirmed the reopening of the Kerem Shalom crossing.
Israel said on Saturday that it had closed Gaza crossings as a "necessary security measure" in light of the war with Iran.
An army spokesman described the move as temporary during the first days of the conflict, when it was unclear whether Iran-allied militant groups in Gaza would intervene.
COGAT said a "mechanism adapted to the current security situation" had now been developed to enable safe operations at Kerem Shalom.
After the closures, COGAT had said that existing supplies inside Gaza would be sufficient for an extended period. The United Nations disputed that assessment, with a spokesman for Secretary General Antonio Guterres saying local stocks were running low.
