New Delhi [India], May 18: Actor-singer King B Chouhan and actress Malvi Malhotra are all set to headline the upcoming Punjabi situational comedy-drama Dama Dum Mast Kalandar, slated to release in theatres on May 22. Ahead of its release, the makers have unveiled the film's entertaining trailer, offering audiences a glimpse into a heartfelt and humorous story rooted in friendship, struggle, and the longing for home.
King B Chouhan, known for his work in the film Teri Meri Jodi alongside Sidhu Moosewala, teams up with Malvi Malhotra, who has impressed audiences with her performances in films like Hotel Milan, Thiragabadara Saami, and Abhyuham.
Directed by Sukhvir Singh and produced by Starmoon Film Productions in association with Chakora Productions, Dama Dum Mast Kalandar explores the emotional and often ironic realities of NRI life through a quirky, situational comedy lens.
The trailer introduces viewers to the journey of two friends navigating the highs and lows of life abroad, where ordinary situations often spiral into unexpected chaos and comedy. Set against the backdrop of the immigrant experience, the film subtly captures themes of friendship, aspirations, and the bittersweet realization that sometimes, the stability one seeks abroad may ultimately lead them back home.
King B Chouhan steps into the role of Kalandar, bringing his charm and comic timing to the character. Speaking about the film, he shared, "I found the story extremely relatable, as I've had a similar journey in the industry over the past 17 years. It deeply resonated with me. Being born and brought up in Punjab, I feel a strong connection to the place -- I think about going back almost every day. So in many ways, this story is very close to my heart. When I first heard it, I instantly felt it was the perfect opportunity to express my emotions."
Malvi Malhotra, who plays Jasmine in the film, said, "My character, Jasmine, is outspoken, bold, and very vocal about what she wants. Such characters are not often seen in Punjabi cinema, which made this role especially exciting for me. I felt it was a wonderful opportunity to portray someone so confident and expressive."
The film also features Anita Devgan, Rupinder Rupi, Mintu Kapa, Sukhdev Barnala, Manpreet Singh, Pritish Narula, Sammy Gill, and Pahulpreet Singh in pivotal roles.
Dama Dum Mast Kalandar is set to hit theatres on May 22, promising audiences an entertaining blend of humour, emotions, and relatable moments.
