Miguel Diaz-Canel was re-elected President of Cuba

Havana [Cuba], April 20: The Granma newspaper reported that the Cuban Communist Party's First Secretary Miguel Diaz-Canel was re-elected as President. The newspaper quoted Cuban National Electoral Council President Alina Balseiro as saying that all 462 delegates were present at the session of the National Assembly to exercise the right to vote.
Of the total number of votes submitted, there were 460 valid votes and 2 blank votes, meaning that 97.66% of the delegates supported the position of President, while 93.4% supported the Vice President.
At the introduction of the candidates, many delegates supported the proposals and appreciated the qualities of the two leaders.
The President is recognized for his achievements in leading the country in the midst of a very unfavorable situation, and for his spirit of prioritizing collective work, innovation and science.
Delegates also commented that the working methods adopted, such as visits to localities, dialogue with people and regular exchanges with representatives of civil society organizations, helped They are respected and loved by the people.
In a televised address, Miguel Diaz-Canel thanked delegates for their support. "We must take on this great challenge without hesitation," said Mr. Diaz-Canel.
Mr. Miguel Diaz-Canel (63 years old) was elected President of the Council of State in April 2018. In 2019, after the new constitution was established, Mr. Diaz-Canel became the President of the country. In April 2021, he became the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba.
Also at the session on April 18, the Cuban National Assembly approved Manuel Marrero to hold the position of Prime Minister.
