Milan beats Sampdoria on Diaz's winner

Rome (Italy), August 24: AC Milan got its new Serie A season off to a good start as it beat Sampdoria 1-0 away on Monday, with Brahim Diaz scoring the winner.
Two Milan's new arrivals made their Serie A debut as Olivier Giroud led the attacking line while Mike Maignan stood between the sticks.
Milan scored the winner in the ninth minute as Maignan's long pass found Davide Calabria, the right-back sprinted down to the by-line before rolling across for Diaz to sweep in the sole goal.
In an earlier fixture on Monday, Joao Pedro's brace in four minutes avoided Cagliari a home defeat as it shared spoils with Spezia 2-2.
