Morocco rescues 310 illegal immigrants off coasts

Rabat (Morocco), October 19: The Moroccan navy rescued 310 illegal immigrants from Oct. 16 to 18 off the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts, the Moroccan news agency MAP reported Monday.
Most of the illegal immigrants are Sub-Saharans, including 23 women and nine minors, it added.
They were experiencing difficulties in makeshift boats, kayaks and jet skis, MAP said.
Many of them were in deteriorating health conditions and had been given necessary first aid, before being brought safe and sound to the various ports of the North African county and handed over to the Moroccan Gendarmerie for the usual procedures, it added.
Morocco has become a transit country for African migrants seeking to reach Europe.
