Mozambique to introduce malaria vaccine in 2024

Maputo [Mozambique], April 27: The Mozambican government will introduce the vaccine against malaria in 2024, Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane said Wednesday.
"We hope by 2030 to reduce the national incidence of malaria from 329 cases per 1,000 inhabitants to 216 cases per 1,000 inhabitants," said the prime minister during the launch of the Strategic Plan for Malaria 2023-2030 in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique.
According to Maleiane, with the preventive vaccine, hospital mortality from malaria is expected to decrease from 1.3 per 100,000 inhabitants to 0.77 per 100,000 inhabitants.
"We are counting on the engagement of the private sector and other national and international partners in mobilizing more resources for continuous improvement of access to health units, prevention and treatment of malaria," he said.
