Oct 04, 2024

Pyongyang [North Korea], October 4: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has said his country will resolutely respond, including the use of nuclear weapons, if South Korea and its US ally attack its territory.
"If the enemies attempt to send armed forces to infringe upon the sovereignty of the DPRK , the DPRK will not hesitate to invoke all available offensive forces, including nuclear weapons ," KCNA news agency quoted Kim Jong-un as saying today, October 4 .
According to KCNA, the leader's remarks were made while inspecting a special forces training base west of Pyongyang.
Mr Kim's warning came after South Korea held a massive military parade on October 1, in which President Yoon Suk Yeol warned that the North Korean regime would end if Pyongyang used nuclear weapons.
"If North Korea attempts to use nuclear weapons, it will face a resolute and overwhelming response from our military and the South Korea-US alliance," Yonhap quoted Yoon as saying to thousands of servicemen gathered at a Seoul air base for the parade.
On October 1, South Korea held a military parade to celebrate the founding anniversary of its army and on this occasion introduced a ballistic missile that can be equipped with a super-large warhead.
According to observers, North Korea has been pursuing a weapons development program for many years and is believed to have enough fissile material to make dozens of nuclear weapons. Pyongyang conducted its first six nuclear tests in 2006.
