Feb 07, 2023

Copenhagen [Denmark], February 7: Copenhagen Norway's government announced plans on Monday to provide long-term financial support for war-torn Ukraine with yearly donations of 15 billion Norwegian kroner ($1.5 billion) for the next five years. The total 75-billion-kroner support package was partly about demonstrating long-term support to the Ukrainian people and partly about showing Russia that free, democratic countries are on Ukraine's side, Prime Minister Jonas GahrStøre said in Oslo on Monday.
Ukrainian President VolodymyrZelensky expressed his gratitude for the proposed support. "[This is a] significant contribution to our future victory over the aggressor and to successful reconstruction," he wrote on Twitter. According to Støre, half of this year's donation will go to military aid and half to humanitarian aid. (DPA)
