Old conflicts in Venezuela again

Jul 31, 2024

Caracas [Venezuela], July 31: According to the official announcement of the Venezuelan Electoral Council, incumbent President Nicolas Maduro won the recent presidential election with 51% of the vote and the opposition presidential candidate won 44% of the vote.
Of course, the opposition in Venezuela does not accept this result and accuses the government of election fraud. The governments of some countries in the Americas that are hostile to Mr. Maduro, such as Peru, Costa Rica... also make similar accusations. Meanwhile, the governments of some other countries, such as the President of Chile , although not confirming election fraud, expressed skepticism about the objectivity and authenticity of the election results .
The developments are a repeat of what happened after Maduro was declared the winner of the presidential election six years ago. Before this year's election, most people believed that the opposition in Venezuela and many other countries would not accept and recognize Maduro's victory. Their accusations, arguments and demands this time were no different.
During his last presidential term, Mr. Maduro had to face and deal with the above challenges regularly. But this time, it may signal that Mr. Maduro will face many difficulties, even risks and dangers, in the upcoming term. The political arena and society continue to be deeply divided, so maintaining security and political and social stability will not be simple. The opposition from hostile countries outside is still very significant. The Venezuelan opposition will still rely on the outside and the Latin American region will continue to experience strong political and social fluctuations.
