Palestinian inmates must receive more food: Israeli court

Sep 08, 2025

Gaza [Palestine], September 8: Israel's Supreme Court has ruled that Palestinian prisoners need to be supplied with sufficient food, ordering an end to the food reduction policy implemented by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, local media reported on Sunday.
The court accepted a petition brought by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI), which had previously reported that conditions for Palestinian inmates in Israeli prisoners have significantly deteriorated since the October 7, 2023 attacks and the subsequent conflict in Gaza.
According to the group, many of the Palestinian prisoners, which reportedly include fighters who took part in the October 7 attacks, are very malnourished.
Far-right National Security Miniter Ben-Gvir blasted the ruling. The hostages still held by Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza did not have such protection, he argued in a post on X.
Meanwhile, Israel has displaced dozens more Palestinians after destroying another high-rise building in Gaza City, on Sunday, the second such attack in 24 hours.
At least 46 people have been killed in strikes on a school, tents and houses across Gaza. At least 50 buildings in Gaza City have been razed to the ground by Israeli strikes and another 100 have been damaged, Gaza's Civil Defence said in a statement. (Agencies)
