Jun 17, 2025

Tehran [Iran], June 17: This morning (Vietnam time), President Trump urged Iranians to quickly leave the capital Tehran while Israel continues to attack.
"Everyone should evacuate Tehran immediately!" President Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social while the G7 Summit took place in Canada.
The White House owner did not elaborate beyond warning to evacuate Tehran . Nearly 10 million people live in the Iranian capital, according to AFP.
The warning comes as Israel steps up attacks on Iran, with Tel Aviv saying it aims to destroy the enemy's nuclear program.
Earlier, the Israeli military issued a warning urging residents in a district of Tehran to evacuate, repeating a tactic it used in Gaza after the conflict there broke out on October 7, 2023.
President Trump has repeatedly refused to answer questions about the possibility of the US joining Israel's military action. At the G7, the US leader told reporters: "As soon as I leave here, we'll have something to do, but I have to leave here."
Reuters reported that Mr. Trump then cut short his schedule at the G7 and returned to the US early to deal with urgent issues.
Early this morning (Vietnam time), US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that the US has increased its military presence in the Middle East to strengthen its defense capabilities.
Hours before the announcement, the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier was en route to leave Southeast Asia. At 8:25 p.m. on June 16 (Vietnam time), the US aircraft carrier passed through the Strait of Malacca towards the Indian Ocean, according to the ship tracking site Marine Traffic.
Iranian officials say at least 224 people have died in Israeli attacks, most of them civilians, along with many high-ranking Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists.
In response, Iran launched a series of missiles into Israeli territory, and warned that it would continue to launch other deadly attacks.
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee confirmed on June 16 that an Iranian missile slightly damaged an embassy building in Tel Aviv.
