Jun 08, 2026

Doha [Qatar], June 8: Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has announced modifications to three denominations in the fifth series of Qatari banknotes - the QR5, QR10 and QR50 notes - in line with the laws and regulations in force in Qatar.
According to an official statement, the updated banknotes will feature changes related to the official state emblem, Arabic numerals, and the issue date.
QCB clarified that the previous editions of the QR5, QR10 and QR50 notes from the fifth series, issued before these updates, will remain legal tender and continue circulating normally without any effect.
The central bank added that similar updates will be introduced to other currency denominations at a later stage.
The move forms part of QCB's ongoing efforts to ensure that the country's currency reflects current legal and administrative standards while maintaining continuity and confidence in the national currency system.
No changes were announced regarding the value, validity, or usability of the existing banknotes, and the central bank urged the public and businesses to continue accepting all existing fifth-series notes in circulation.
