Russian drone and missile attacks kill four, injure dozens in Ukraine

Sep 29, 2025

Kiev [Ukraine], September 29: Russian drone and missile strikes have killed at least four people and injured 40 in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday, after a heavy barrage of attacks overnight.
Zelensky said Russia used nearly 500 combat drones and more than 40 missiles, including the hypersonic Kinzhal, during a 12-hour assault, which hit factories, private residences and civilian infrastructure. The strikes targeted the capital Kiev and its surrounding areas, as well as the regions of Zaporizhzhya, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv and Odessa. In Kiev, the city's Institute of Cardiology sustained damage, Zelensky said in his post on Telegram.
All of the fatalities occurred in the Kiev area, he added. According to the president, Russia's attack was a clear signal to the world following the high-level General Debate week at the UN General Assembly, in which Moscow's war on Ukraine featured prominantly "Moscow wants to continue to fight and kill and deserves only the harshest pressure in the world.
The Kremlin benefits from continuing this war and terror as long as there are energy funds and a shadow navy," Zelensky wrote on Telegram. (dpa)
