Souq Al Jubail Dates Festival launches its ninth edition

Sharjah [UAE], July 3: Activities of the ninth annual Souq Al Jubail Dates Festival were launched in Sharjah, which will continue until the end of next September, with wide participation from the owners of date shops in Souq Al Jubail and a number of external participants.
Engineer Abdullah Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah City Markets, explained that the date festival is one of the important events that Souq Al Jubail is keen to organise every year, given the great demand that the market witnesses by citizens, residents and visitors alike. It is one of the most important marketing and prominent tourist destinations in the Emirate in addition to its distinguished location in the heart of the city, he said.
He added that organising this festival comes within the framework of the great interest that Sharjah attaches to supporting and encouraging national products, including dates, in conjunction with the date production season in the country, with the aim of supporting efforts aimed at achieving food security, and the interest and keenness to develop the date sector.
The festival displays various types of dates to meet the diverse tastes of visitors.
