Syria says 36 killed in Israeli strike

Nov 21, 2024

Damascus [Syria], November 21: An Israeli strike on the Syrian city of Palmyra has killed 36 people and injured more than 50, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Wednesday, as talks on a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah militia made further progress.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told DPA that at least 41 people were killed and 60 injured in three strikes on an industrial area of Palmyra, with one hitting a munitions warehouse.
The UK-based monitor said the victims included members of pro-Iranian militias. According to SANA, the buildings were heavily damaged. The Israeli military did not initially comment on the incident. Israel has increasingly been bombing targets in Syria to prevent Iran and its allies from expanding their military influence in the country. The Israeli military carried out a total of 152 attacks in Syria so far this year, according to the observatory.
