Jan 02, 2025

Las Vegas [US], January 2: A Tesla Cybertruck exploded in the parking lot of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas on January 1. Authorities said the driver was killed and seven passersby suffered minor injuries.
ABC News quoted an official involved in the investigation as saying that the vehicle was carrying ammunition similar to fireworks. Investigators are urgently trying to determine the motive and whether the driver intentionally detonated the explosives.
According to the station, police are investigating the possibility that the explosion was a criminal and terrorist act.
Cybertruck is a model of electric car company Tesla, whose CEO is billionaire Elon Musk . Mr. Musk, an advisor to President-elect Donald Trump, said that the cause of the explosion did not originate from the car.
"We have confirmed that the explosion was caused by a large amount of fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the rented Cybertruck and was not related to the vehicle. All vehicle data was fine at the time of the explosion," Musk wrote on the social network X.
The Trump Hotel in Las Vegas is owned by the President-elect's Trump Organization. The explosion occurred just hours after a man drove a truck into a crowd in New Orleans, Louisiana, killing 15 people. The FBI said it found an explosive device in the vehicle used in the attack.
Meanwhile, security sources said the Cybertruck that exploded in Las Vegas was rented through the Turo app, similar to the vehicle that caused the accident in New Orleans.
