The film starring People's Artist Hong Van only sold 3 tickets in one day; what is the revenue like now?

Apr 08, 2026

Hanoi [Vietnam], April 8: After more than a month in theaters, the film 'Let's Go Home' has grossed over 14.2 billion VND. However, on April 7th alone, only 3 tickets were sold and only 1 screening remained (based on data from Box Office Vietnam).
According to statistics from Box Office Vietnam, on April 7th, the film " Let's Go Home," starring People's Artist Hong Van and actress Uyen An, only sold 3 tickets with a revenue of 279,000 VND (as of 5 PM). The film has only one screening left and is likely to leave theaters soon. Meanwhile, the film's total revenue is over 14.2 billion VND - a rather modest figure compared to the current market where many projects have surpassed the 100 billion VND mark.
"Let's Go, My Family" is a film project directed by Tran Dinh Hien, featuring a cast of Vietnamese stars such as People's Artist Kim Xuan, People's Artist Hong Van, artist Hoang Son, actress Uyen An, actor Doan The Vinh, etc. The film revolves around the story of Phuong, who participates in an investment program but must overcome a challenge: taking a family trip. From there, suppressed emotions and conflicts between family members are gradually resolved.
Instead of releasing on the first day of Tet (Lunar New Year) to directly compete with projects like "Tho Oi," "Nha Ba Toi Mot Phong," "Bau Vat Troi Cho," and "Mui Pho," Tran Dinh Hien's film decided to be released on the tenth day of Tet. This led many to suspect that the team was afraid of "clashing" with projects by Tran Thanh, Truong Giang, and others.
Director Tran Dinh Hien said that the 10th day of the Lunar New Year is the ideal time for " Let's Go Home" to be released in theaters. He explained that this is when many people have returned to the big cities to start working, but are still in a phase where they want to relax and have fun. The director added: "The Lunar New Year film season has many films released, so we have to carefully plan how to allocate screening slots appropriately. There are already too many films on the first day of the Lunar New Year, so we didn't join the race not because we were afraid or hesitant, but because we wanted to find a time when the market share was still available and suitable for our film."
Regarding the current Vietnamese film market, "Meet Me on Eclipse Day" led the box office on its opening day with over 2.4 billion VND, equivalent to more than 35,000 screenings. The film, starring Miss Thien An, has now grossed over 69.1 billion VND, maintaining its appeal after its release. Over the three-day weekend, the project earned nearly 24 billion VND, securing its top spot at the box office for two consecutive weeks.
Recently, the film directed by Le Thien Vien has received positive feedback on social media. According to a representative from Box Office Vietnam: "' I'll Meet You on the Day of the Eclipse' maintained its impressive performance and its opening weekend revenue on Monday significantly surpassed that of the first week." This representative also suggested that if it maintains this impressive pace, the film has the potential to reach the 100 billion VND mark.
Meanwhile, Super Mario Galaxy was a global sensation with over $300 million in its opening weekend, the highest of 2026. However, in Vietnam, the film did not generate much buzz and its weekend revenue was only one-third of that of the top-grossing film. The remaining three positions in the top 5 weekend box office rankings were occupied by Song Hy Lam Nguy (5.7 billion VND), Cu Nhay Ky Dieu (3.5 billion VND), and Quy Nhap Trang 2 (2.4 billion VND). This week, the film Trap Tien will be released, after its release date was postponed from the end of last year.
