Mar 23, 2025

Madrid [Spain], March 23: Three climbers lost their lives on Saturday in a tragic accident in Moncayo National Park, located in the Aragon region of northern Spain, the Spanish Civil Guard confirmed.
The local police received an emergency call around 14:00 local time (1300 GMT) reporting an accident in the mountainous area known as "La Escupidera" -- a notoriously hazardous section of the park, especially under adverse weather conditions. The area was experiencing strong winds and snowfall at the time.
Rescue teams were dispatched from the nearby city of Huesca but were forced to proceed on foot due to the weather. Upon arrival, they found two climbers already deceased; a third succumbed to injuries shortly after.
The victims are believed to be part of a group that had traveled from Madrid.
