Trump calls US President 'extremely dangerous profession'

Jun 28, 2025

New York [US], June 28: On June 27, US President Donald Trump recalled threats to his life after the US Supreme Court issued a ruling granting him broad powers to pursue his agenda during his term.
When a reporter asked about the threats he faced, US President Donald Trump said he sometimes remembered the bullet that grazed his ear at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024.
"Sometimes I get a sharp pain in my ear. But you know what? That's okay. The US presidency is a dangerous job ," Reuters quoted the White House owner as saying on June 28.
He made the remarks at an impromptu White House press conference, as the US Supreme Court handed him a major legal victory by limiting the power of federal judges to issue nationwide bans on federal government policies.
President Trump believes that the presidency is a higher-risk profession than the most dangerous professions.
"Race car drivers, for example: 0.1% of people die. Bullfighters, too, at 0.1% of people die. It's not a huge number, but people still die. If you're president, the probability of dying in office increases to about 5%. If someone told me that from the beginning, I probably wouldn't have run. Okay? This is a very dangerous profession," Mr. Trump analyzed.
Mr. Trump has faced many threats to his life. After the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, Mr. Trump also escaped the risk of being assassinated while playing golf in West Palm Beach, (Florida) on September 15, 2024.
In American history, 4 out of 45 presidents have been assassinated. Several presidents and candidates running for the White House have also been shot.
