Türkiye says providing "technical support" for Gaza ceasefire implementation

Oct 11, 2025

Ankara [Turkey], October 11: Türkiye is providing "technical support" for the implementation of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Friday.
"At this stage, our focus is on implementing the first phase -- the ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid," Fidan said at a joint news conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Ankara.
He said later phases would address Gaza's governance and internal security. "This process requires constant attention and focus," he added, pledging that Türkiye would continue to "manage and guide it with care."
Fidan warned against any interruption to the peace process. "If the process stops, it could lead to renewed massacres," he said, calling for sustained international engagement toward a two-state solution.
The implementation of the Gaza truce follows days of intensive negotiations in Egypt, as part of broader understandings that include a prisoner exchange and arrangements to reopen border crossings and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
Under the agreement, the Israeli army would halt fighting and partially withdraw from the Gaza Strip, while Hamas would release all remaining detainees in exchange for Israel freeing more than 2,000 Palestinian detainees.
Two years of Israeli strikes have left Gaza in ruins, caused famine, and killed more than 67,000 people, according to the Gaza health authorities.
