Oct 16, 2026

Tehran [Iran], October 16: A container ship has sunk after being struck by an unidentified projectile while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, Singapore's port authority said on Wednesday.
The Singapore-registered GFS Pride was damaged and caught fire before sinking, the authority said in a statement. All 21 crew members were evacuated safely, with no injuries reported. According to vessel-tracking service Vessel Finder, the ship had been heading to the port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.
A second Singapore-registered vessel, the GFS Giselle, was also struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the strait. The ship sustained damage to its hull but managed to reach a safe port under its own power. All 22 crew members were safe and uninjured, the authority said. Singapore's port authority condemned the attacks as "unprovoked, unjustifiable and a violation of international law."
