UAE participates in 4th BRICS Sherpas/ Sous-Sherpa Meeting

Kazan [Russia], October 23: Saeed Mubarak Al-Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE's BRICS Sherpa, participated in the 4th BRICS Sherpa and Sous Sherpa meeting, held between 17 - 22 October 2024 in Kazan, Russia.
The meeting was held in preparation for the upcoming 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan. During the meeting, BRICS members engaged in discussions and collaborated on drafting the Kazan Declaration.
Saeed Al-Hajeri emphasised the UAE's ongoing commitment to advancing economic integration within the BRICS framework. He highlighted the country's dedication to supporting joint efforts to address critical global challenges. All BRICS members participated in the meeting at the level of Sherpa and Sous Sherpa.
The UAE joined BRICS as a full member in January 2024, marking a significant milestone in its international engagement strategy. This membership aligns with the UAE's vision to enhance its role as a global trade hub and to contribute meaningfully to multilateral economic cooperation.
For the UAE, BRICS represents a platform to deepen economic ties, support the development of sustainable projects, and engage in constructive dialogue on global economic governance.
BRICS' core mission is to promote inclusive global economic growth, provide support to emerging economies. The Group focuses on several key areas, such as trade, infrastructure development, finance, and sustainable development. By facilitating dialogue among its members, BRICS works towards the development of innovative solutions to global challenges, while fostering stronger ties between nations in the Global South.
