Ukraine criticizes West for delaying delivery of long-range weapons

Oct 05, 2024

Kyiv [Ukraine], October 5: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Western countries for delaying long-range weapons aid to his country during a meeting with new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Ukraine on October 3.
At the meeting, Mr. Zelensky also called on NATO to allow Ukraine to use aid weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, emphasizing that the current restrictions are gradually making Kyiv less able to withstand attacks from Moscow. In addition, Mr. Zelensky wants neighboring countries to help shoot down Russian missiles and drones attacking Ukraine, similar to how the US and its allies helped Israel intercept Iran's attack on October 1.
For his part, Mr. Rutte said NATO has provided unprecedented support to Ukraine since the outbreak of hostilities in February 2022, emphasizing that more than 99% of it is military aid.
