Ukraine drones attack Russian air base in Voronezh

Oct 04, 2024

Kyiv [Ukraine], October 4: Ukrainian aerial drones attacked the Borisoglebsk air base in Russia's Voronezh region in the early hours of Thursday, targeting stocks of glide bombs, Sukhoi combat jets and fuel depots, Ukrainian media reported.
The reports, which cited the SBU intelligence service, made no mention of specific damage to the air base, which lies more than 340 kilometres from Ukrainian-controlled territory.
Voronezh Governor Aleksandr Gusev earlier reported Ukrainian drone attacks on Telegram, saying that around 30 had been intercepted.
Descending fragments had damaged more than a dozen houses, and a woman was admitted to hospital with injures from fragments, he said.
Russian regions close to the Ukrainian border have seen an increase in cross-border attacks since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
However, the scale of these incidents remains significantly smaller compared to the widespread destruction inflicted by Moscow's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Earlier, Russian authorities said three civilians had been killed and 24 others wounded in Ukrainian grenade attacks on the Russian border area of Belgorod a day earlier.
Among the injured were two children, according to the head of the regional health authority, Andrei Ikonnikov.
Wednesday's attack targeted residential areas, Russian news agency TASS reported, citing Ikonnikov.
The information could not be independently verified.
