Dec 17, 2024

Warsaw [Poland], December 17: The leaders of the Visegrad Group (V4) countries met on Monday in Wisla, Southern Poland, to discuss crisis prevention, particularly in the context of floods, as well as the situation in Ukraine and potential pathways to end the war, according to a statement from the Polish Presidential Office.
The presidents of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary also exchanged views on cooperation within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the allocation of three percent of GDP for defense-related spending, a measure the Polish leader has advocated for many months.
"We will certainly also discuss these matters more broadly at the NATO forum," Polish President Andrzej Duda said.
In addition, the leaders addressed inter-neighborhood issues, focusing on preventing crisis situations such as flooding. Discussions also covered energy security and cross-border traffic, according to the statement
Since July this year, Poland has held the annual presidency of the Visegrad Group for the seventh time. This meeting marked the final V4 summit for President Duda, whose term concludes in August 2025.
The V4 presidency rotates annually among member states. Following Poland, Hungary will assume the presidency.
