Vanuatu leads calls for legal framework on climate

Dec 03, 2024

The Hague [Netherlands], December 3: Vanuatu on Monday urged the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague to declare failure to address climate change a violation of international law.
The court must state that this behaviour is against the law, Ralph Regenvanu, the Pacific island state's representative for climate change, said. Regenvanu said countries should be obligated to cut their greenhouse gas emissions considerably and to pay reparations for the damage they have caused in the past. (DPA)
