Gaza film co-produced by Brad Pitt grabs attention at Venice Festival

Venice [Italy], September 4: A docudrama co-produced by Brad Pitt and Joaquin Phoenix about a Palestinian girl killed in the Gaza Strip caused a stir at the Venice Film Festival. The film "The Voice of Hind Rajab" by Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania is part of the competition, marking the first time the Gaza war has been given a major platform at an A-list festival. The film, which does not focus on the October 2023 Hamas-led attacks which the triggered the war, premiered on Wednesday.
Phoenix and his partner Rooney Mara, who is also one of the producers, walked the red carpet together and had tears in their eyes after the viewing, according to the Hollywood Reporter. (DPA)
