Japan, US to plan missiles

Washington [US], November 26: Kyodo News Agency reported on November 24 that Japan and the United States are working towards drawing up a joint military plan to respond to an emergency in Taiwan, including missile launches. The joint plan between Japan and the United States is expected to be completed next month.
Accordingly, the US will deploy missile units to the Nansei Islands in Kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures (southwest of Japan), as well as to the Philippines . The 12th US Marine Regiment, which owns the HIMARS high-mobility rocket artillery system and other weapons, will be deployed on the Nansei Islands. The Japan Self-Defense Forces are expected to mainly participate in logistical support for the US Marine unit, including providing fuel and ammunition.
According to Kyodo, a US unit specializing in space, cyberspace and electromagnetic waves will be deployed in the Philippines. Currently, Japan, the US and the Philippines have not commented on the new information above.
