Mysterious black bag thrown through White House window

Sep 03, 2025

Washington [US], September 3: Speaking about the video showing a black bag being thrown through a White House window, US President Donald Trump said the image was created by artificial intelligence (AI), although expert analysis said it was real.
CNN on September 3 quoted US President Donald Trump dismissing a "stormy" video showing a black bag being thrown out of a White House window , adding that the fact that such videos could look so real was "a little scary".
"It was probably AI-generated. It was definitely AI-generated, because I know every single window there. Number one, they were all sealed, and number two, each window weighs about 600 pounds," he said.
The US president then asked to see the video, which was first shared on Instagram over the weekend by the account washingtonianprobs , before reiterating that he believed it was fake.
He said AI has both "good and bad sides" and that he sees "a lot of fake stuff."
"If something really bad happens, blame AI," Trump joked.
In the video, a black plastic bag appears to be thrown from a second-floor window of the White House, where Mr Trump's private residence is located.
However, over the weekend, two knowledgeable sources said the video was genuine and involved construction and renovations taking place in that room.
According to professor Hany Farid of the University of California at Berkeley, who is also the chief scientist of deepfake detection company GetReal, there is no evidence that the video was created or edited using AI.
Mr. Trump was not at the White House over the weekend, but mainly stayed at his golf club in Virginia from August 30 to September 1.
He said that first lady Melania Trump once complained about the windows not opening. "She said she wanted some fresh air to come in. But she couldn't. Because they're bulletproof," he added.
